Gianna Watson, who goes by her stage name “Shei Sava,” has been an artist since birth. On April 7, 2001 in Fremont, CA, her grandfather got a call from the hospital informing him that she had been born, but the second act of the musical he was starring in was about to start. He decided to ditch the show, rush to the hospital to meet his new granddaughter and first grandchild… in full costume and makeup.
When she was four years old, Shei Sava sang in front of a crowd for the very first time at a big party for her grandparents’ wedding anniversary. She gained the courage to do so by watching her grandpa perform in musicals, and from listening to her aunt and uncle, who met at the PCPA (Pacific Conservatory for Performing Arts), singing around the house all day everyday. From that point on, her mother began placing her to perform in musicals, where she sang and danced in front of large audiences, and she quickly proved to be a natural.
Sava began her new path at Pyramind, a technical school in San Francisco, CA which specializes in music production, engineering, and sound design studies. A month later, she began working with the team at Def-Odd Records, whom she credits with helping her grow as a professional in the music industry.
Through the label, Gianna connected with other musically inclined women with whom she works alongside every week, sharing their research about the history of women in music in their podcast “Odd Women,” which airs Fridays at 7 PM (PST) on Clubhouse.
She is certified in Ableton Live 9, and is now actively studying for her ProTools certification exam.
On April 7, 2021, her 20th birthday, Shei Sava released her first single “Silk feat. Franc Mello” (available to stream on all platforms) with its music video which can be found on her instagram @shei.sava.
She is eager to announce that she will be uploading her beats to YouTube before summer of 2021, which will be available for purchase.
